January 1, 2018 – Springfield, IL – The revised Illinois Land Surveyor’s Act of 1989 is now in effect. Revisions to the Act include the definition of the terms “Original Survey”, “Retracement Survey”, “Boundary Law Principles” and “Standard of Care”. Other new terms include “Survey Intern”, which replaces “Land Surveyor in Training” and “Certificate of Correction”, which allows a surveyor to correct errors and / or omissions to recorded documents that they prepared.
